NEW IMAGE EMERGENCY SHELTER for the HOMELESS (New Image) was incorporated in March, 1990 with the following Mission:

The MISSION of New Image is to: (1) decrease and (2) prevent homelessness throughout Los Angeles County by providing comprehensive Case Management and Supportive Services, housing, job search and placement, outreach, and referral services.

New Image, as a social service provider began providing services to homeless and low-income individuals and families with children, in 1989. At that time, New Image operated one (1) program, had four (4) employees, and an Annual Gross Income (AGI) of $14,000.00. Today, more than 20 years later, it operates fifteen (15) programs, provides numerous services, has over 165 employees, and an AGI that exceeds $6,000,000.00. However, more then 81% of these funds are restricted, for ‘programs’, only.

In December 2008, New Image achieved a milestone, having provided comprehensive case management and supportive services to more than 1.9 million (duplicated) homeless and low-income individuals and families with children, of which over 801,336 of these clients were unduplicated (meaning that they were seen only once).

These figures represent an accumulation of all clients served for the past 20 years, in all of New Image programs.

Since its incorporation in 1990, New Image has operated more than forty (40) Local, City, County and Federal programs, totaling more than $39,444,000.00 in public funds.

New Image is committed to doing more than just merely warehousing the homeless. All New Image programs maintain Case Managers who provide and coordinate comprehensive and supportive services to better address the clients unmet needs. It is this component that enables the Case Managers to develop an ‘Individualized Service Plan’, which identifies, specially, the needs of each homeless or low-income individual or family, and how each need will be met. It is through this method that jobs, housing placement, vocational training, obtainment of financial rental-utility and move-in assistance, and/or the resolution of other unmet needs are accomplished. Once placed into housing, homelessness is decreased, and through ongoing monthly follow-up (up to 6 months), and the continued provision of supportive services, stability in independent living can be achieved and maintained.
